Introducing Ubra
An agent runtime as a cross-platform desktop app.
Last updated: · By Ubra maintainers
Coding agents live in the terminal, and the terminal was never designed to run six of them at once. You end up with a pile of split panes, no idea which agent is waiting on you, and a layout that evaporates the moment you close the window.
What Ubra is
Ubra is an agent runtime as a cross-platform desktop app. Workspaces hold tabs, tabs hold terminal panes, and each pane runs a real coding-agent CLI — claude, codex, opencode and others. Nothing is reimplemented or wrapped: the binaries you already use are the ones running.
What it adds
- Agent state badges on every pane, so you can scan the whole window.
- Layout persistence across restarts for workspaces, tabs and panes.
- Tray behaviour, so long-running sessions survive closing the window.
- An Explorer and Source Control sidebar next to the agents editing files.
- Plan usage windows for Codex and Claude.
How it is built
Tauri v2 (Rust), Svelte 5, xterm.js — a native desktop app rather than a browser tab, running on macOS, Linux and Windows.
Free and open source
Ubra is MIT licensed and free forever. The source lives at Ubra-Dev/ubra. Issues and pull requests are welcome, and sponsorship pays for signed builds and cross-OS release testing.
